My WP Credits Onboarding
The onboarding module was my starting point in the WordPress community. Its first goal was to get me ready to contribute: understanding what the program expects, setting up my own presence on the open web, and connecting my work to my WordPress.org profile.
One of the key lessons was creating this website. It works as my portfolio and journal for the program. Every week I publish an update in the “WordPress Credits” category describing what I did, what I learned, the challenges I faced, and how the course is going. Linking the site to my WordPress.org profile makes that work visible to mentors and to the wider community.
What I take from onboarding
Open source contribution is not only code. Documentation, translation, testing, and communication all count, and documenting the process publicly is part of the contribution itself.
